Dragon Issues-HUD Alignment

Q: My HUD is misaligned, or completely off screen! How do I fix this?

Development was done in 1680x1050 resolution. If you're not at the same resolution, the HUD will appear either off screen or deeper in-screen than intended. The intended location of the HUD is touching the top and left borders of the screen, as seen in this image.

If your resolution is too low, the HUD may be completely off screen when attached. Even if the HUD is on screen, pressing the minimize or quickbar button may end up pushing it off screen if it's not aligned.

There are three situations, from worst to easiest, where the HUD can be misaligned.

Situation 1) No part of the HUD is visible.

When you attach the HUD and can't see it anywhere, it's completely off screen. These steps will help you bring it back.

Note: To verify you are in fact wearing it, you can look in your inventory and find the HUD, and if it's bold and has a "(worn" after it, then it is attached. You can search your inventory for "(worn" to see everything currently worn.

Step 1) Attach a different HUD to a different HUD attachment slot.

If you have another type of HUD, this step should be as easy as right clicking it in your inventory and selecting wear. If you don't, you can do the following:

a) Right click on the ground near you can select "Create".

b) Click on the ground to create a plywood cube.

c) Right click the plywood cube and on the pie menu and select More -> Attach HUD -> unused slot.

Once the HUD is on your screen, right click it and select Edit from the pie menu. You can then "zoom out" using the mouse wheel to see the off screen parts, as described in the next section.

Situation 2) Some part of the HUD is visible.

If you can see any part of the HUD, things are easy to fix!

Step 2) Right click on the HUD and select Edit from the pie menu, or edit your other HUD/cube that's visible.

Step 3) Mousewheel out. By rolling the mousewheel you can "zoom out" of your screen and see HUD attachments that are moved out of visible range.

The white border represents your actual screen. When you stop editing or zoom back in, the white border will line up with the edge of your screen -- so edit everything inside of it while you're zoomed out.

Once you can see the edit arrows, you just need to move the HUD back into place as described below.

Situation 3)

If the HUD isn't flush with the edge of the screen, but when editing it the edit arrows are immediately visible, you simply need to move it into place. So make sure you've right clicked and selected Edit from the pie menu.

Step 4) Using the up or left arrows, (they're the only ones that work, see JIRA VWR-5518) move the HUD so it's flush with the upper left. You can still move it the HUD down by clicking on the up arrow, or right by clicking on the left arrow.

As per the Jira above, clicking on the down or right sides of the arrows doesn't move the HUD.

After moving everything into place, exit edit mode, and be sure to test the HUD by minimizing it and bringing it back up to make sure it's ok.

If the HUD gets rotated oddly, simply click on the page turning button a time or two to fix it.
